Ferrari built road cars to fund the racing
Enzo never cared about the road cars.
Enzo Ferrari founded Scuderia Ferrari in 1929, initially to race Alfa Romeos. The road-car business — the one that would define an aesthetic — began in 1947 only as a way to fund his true obsession: Formula 1. Every crimson production model, in his view, was a rolling advertisement for the racing team.
