Kubrick shot 127 takes of one scene

Shelley Duvall's "The Shining" scene set a Guinness World Record.

The scene where Wendy backs up the staircase swinging a baseball bat at Jack was filmed 127 times over three weeks. Duvall lost her hair from stress. Kubrick, famously, offered no direction between takes — only "again." The scene runs 90 seconds in the final film.
