The shortest war in history lasted 38 minutes

Anglo-Zanzibar, 1896.

A succession dispute triggered a brief bombardment by the Royal Navy. The Sultan's palace surrendered after just over half an hour. The event, absurd and tragic in equal measure, is preserved in the Guinness Book of Records as the shortest war ever recorded.

Editor's Note

History is not always long. Sometimes it is embarrassingly brief.
